From its convenient location overlooking the ancient city walls, The Chaucer is a good base for visiting Canterbury's Cathedral, museums and the surrounding Kent countryside. This elegant Georgian building, refurbished in 1998, is very handy for day trips to France and thought to stand on the site of the foundry which cast the original Canterbury bells.
